Abstract In order to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the monitoring data of the plumb-line observer, the calibration method of the indication error of the plumb-line observer is studied. Selecting the plumb line as a measuring standard for measuring indication error of plumb-line observer,through the controlled by the motion program of image measuring instrument,the plumb line moves on XY coordinate,so that the trajectory vector of the plumb line is equal to the vector produced by the xy coordinate motion of the plumb-line observer, and the xy coordinate indication error of the plumb-line observer is obtained by comparing the modes of the two vectors. The measurement uncertainty is analyzed,and verifies that the calibration method is traceable.This universal method call be taken as an effective calibration to measure the indication error of various types of plumb-line observers.
