Abstract  A measurement method based on laser ranging principle was proposed to detect inclination of forgings.Firstly, laser displacement sensors were used to collect forging surface information, and an outlier detection method based on regression analysis was adopted to judge and to eliminate outliers. Then, the obtained distance information was converted into coordinate information by coordinate transformation method, and the direct least square method was used to fit discrete points for obtaining elliptic curve. Finally, the three-dimensional linear equation of central axis of forging was obtained by fitting multiple elliptical center points in the vertical direction, and inclination angle of forging was calculated by linear equation.According to experimental results, the measurement errors are less than 0.1°.
