Abstract The direct luminance method is used to measure the coefficient of retroreflected luminance. The test system is build and the experiment is carried out with the retroreflected marks as the test object.The test and comparison of the direct luminance method and direct luminous intensity method is conducted.The experiment results show that the direct luminance method has obvious advantages on the aspects of the stray light requirement of the darkroom, the measurement object, the measurement distance, and the measurement accuracy. At the same time the direct luminance method has the advantages that the measurement process is simple and the measurement uncertainty reach 3.27%(k=1.96).
