Abstract The factors influencing measuring accuracy for vertical metal tank floating roof and the tank bottom are introduced. In order to solve these problems, new methods that on the basis of pressure transmitter floating roof mass and on the basis of the putting-into-type level meter measuring bottom capacity are described. The feasibility of these methods are tested through qualitative analysis of the simulation experimental results. Finally, the real-time measurement system is set up.
