Abstract Food detection reference material is a measuring instrument to ensure traceability, mutual recognition and accuracy of food detection value, and its development needs accurate determination methods. Digital PCR is a sensitive, accurate and matrix-resistant method for absolute quantification of nucleic acid, which is widely applied in many fields such as medical diagnosis, genetically modified organism detection and animal disease detection. Digital PCR method and its research progress in the detection of genetically modified foods, animal and plant origin analysis and the development of food-borne pathogenic bacteria detection reference materials is reviewed to provide reference for the development of food detection nucleic acid reference materials.
