Abstract A multi-sensor gas flowmeter was developed, which aims to measure the gas flow rate for irregular flow field and large-and-middle scale pipeline. Measurement points are set in the pipe by Log-linear method and four sensors are distributed accordingly in the pipe to acquire the signal of flow rate from characteristic points. The equation of characteristic curve function is obtained by orthogonal polynomial fitting. The experiment for the prototype of 200mm caliber has been taken in irregular flow field .The experiment results show that multi-sensor measurement method could obviously improve the inaccuracy of single sensor measurement in irregular flow field.
