Abstract Based on liquid scintillation counting, a measuring method of 222Rn progeny volume activity is established. Using this kind of method, measurements are executed in NIM’s radon chamber when 222Rn and its progenies get to the secure equilibrium, and a typically expanded uncertainty of 1.5% (k=2) for the potential alpha energy concentration is obtained. Comparative measurements based on the alpha energy spectrum are also executed and the results of the two methods agree within the estimated uncertainty limit.
