Abstract A series of experiments were carried out to study the effect of the magnetic interference which from the magnetically-coupled stirring to the electromagnetic induction-type conductivity meter in the routine conductivity, temperature and depth (CTD) calibration. RBR XR-620 (electromagnetic induction-type) and SBE 37 (electrode type) were selected as model in the investigation. All the experiments were carried out in two thermostatic baths for contrasting with each other, one of the thermostatic baths using magnetically-coupled stirring apparatus and the other using mechanical stirring apparatus. The results show that the magnetic filed indeed has an inference to the electromagnetic induction-type conductivity meter.
