Abstract:A vertical tank volume measuring method based on data cloud analysis is researched. The distance measurement by phase and angular measurement with optical grating is applied to acquire coordinates of data cloud in each plate under the control of servo system, and the permitted error of point location is 2mm. Iterative method and least square algorithms were used to process the measured data and deduce equivalent radius of each loop. In comparison experiment, one 1000m3 vertical tank is used as test object. The largest measured radius difference between the new laser method and strapping method (international arbitrary standard) is 2.8mm.
