Evaluation of Measurement Uncertainty in the Determination of Psoralen, Lsopsoralen, Neobavaisoflavone and Bavachin in Cosmetics

Abstract:Uncertainties from the determination procedure of neobavaisoflavone, bavachin, psoralen and lsopsoralen in cosmetics by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) were assessed. The mathematical model was established, and each source and uncertainty component were analyzed. The standard uncertainty and expanded uncertainty were reported at last. The results showed that the expanded uncertainties were 1.65μg/g, 1.82μg/g, 1.66μg/g and 1.61μg/g (95% confidence level, k=2), when the content of neobavaisoflavone, bavachin, psoralen and lsopsoralen in cosmetics were 42.61μg/g, 44.04μg/g, 42.94μg/g and 41.90μg/g. The main sources for the uncertainty were discussed, and suggestions for improvement were also introduced.
